♡ Searching For A New Aesthetic? What About Hobby Hoarding? ♡
Posted on February 22nd, 2024

It’s always a good day to celebrate Black people – especially Black women! For Black History Month, I want to spotlight a few multi-talented Black women who've been inspiring me lately. These baddies are changing the game for hobby hoarding - or as I like to call it ~ Hobby Hoar♡Core. From figure skating, fashion illustrations, to tattoo artistry, these women I've come across on Insta have given me the inspo I've needed to stay committed to exploring my creative interests ~ As I please. When I wan't. How I want.

Sophia's dedication to learning adult figure skating at 25 is truly inspiring - after just one year her evolution is undeniable. She shares her exploration of different active hobbies like aerial, skateboarding and ice skating. Even though I'm a fan of skateboarding, I've never been a fan of skating - not even rollerblading. However, her graceful elegance makes it look so appealing. The thought of me swirling and twirling in a VVS Diamondz Skirt Set is so enticing it makes me want to actualize it!

I followed @therealrjm after IG recommended her “hobby hoarding” reels - she's into graphic design, fashion illustration, modeling, hosting cocktail parties and more. What specifically caught my attention was her Teflon bag sculpture, especially since I've just transitioned from creating sculpted home decor items, I was really drawn to the detail of it! Her shoe customization reel was equally as iconic and since I'm embracing my designer girl era it was the creative nudge I needed to start working on the shoes I've been planning on reviving! *Subscribe to the newsletter for drop notifications*

I found this celestial queen while searching for an artist to bring my tattoo dreams to reality. Her artistry overall is captivating but what I was really attracted to was her use of color - it's rare to find an artist who can beautifully tattoo darker skin tones. When she shared her reel transforming a Bratz doll into a mini version of herself, that's when I realized the versatility of her art skill! It honestly took self portraits to new heights and my inner child was living for it.. it's definitely something I'd consider trying. She also makes gorgeous tattoo pillows and belts and shares other unique fashion content too.

Seeing Black women connected to non-conforming creativity is vital when society is used to the standard of being devoted to one profession at a time. Their versatility is inspirational and motivational for anyone looking for innovative ways to explore self expression!
